HIGH-TEMPERATURE SUPERCONDUCTIVITY (HTS)
High-temperature superconducting cable lines are power cable lines where power is transmitted through superconducting material at cable temperature below 77K with zero resistive losses.
Power of over 1GW can be transmitted through a single superconducting cable.

ENERGY EFFICIENT SUBSTATION
The Energy Efficient Substation project includes a set of approved methodological, design and technical solutions focused on reduction of electricity consumption for substation BOP needs both at new construction and at operated facilities retrofitting.
The project provides for the development and implementation of innovative technologies allowing substation BOP needs consumption reduction by up to 80% for individual load utilizing equipment and by up to two-fold for new construction.
Technologies
Within the scope of the Energy Efficient Substation project, the following was developed and tested:
• Transformer cooling frequency regulation
• Transformer heat recovery for building heating
• Substation BOP needs power consumption monitoring system
• Outdoor switchgear equipment energy efficient heating system
• Standard substation BOP needs consumption calculation methods
• Book of standard solutions for designing substation buildings
• Low-loaded balance-of-plant transformer disconnection system with automatic start-up
• Use of RES in the substation BOP needs system
• Use of Li-ion batteries in the substation DC system
Reference
• 43 projects of VFD application in transformer cooling system
